Key
words - A list of key words or indexing terms (no more than
6) should be included.
Capital
letter should be used for the first letter of each key word, separated by
a semicolon.
The Journal recommends the use of medical subject headings of Index Medicus for key words to avoid the use of several
synonyms as entry terms in the index for different papers on the same subject. Remember, key words are used by the
Scielo Database (see
search in home page) to index the article.

Running title, to be used as a page heading, should not exceed
60 letters and spaces.

References
must be presented according to the norms of
the journal.
The
5 items below must be followed:
- References
must be numbered in order of citation in the text.
- The titles of journals should be abbreviated according to the "List of Journals Indexed" in Index Medicus (www.nlm.nih.gov). List all authors, but if the number exceeds 6 give 6 followed by et al.
- Short
communication - only 20 references.
- Full
Paper - only 40 references.
- Review
- only 60 references.

Charges
As stated in the instructions we must
inform you that, as of October 1, 2003 the Journal charges "Page
Charges" for all accepted papers. All authors are expected to pay the "page charges". If
the article is accepted for publication after analysis, the Journal will
send an invoice to the author for correspondence.
The charge is R$960/paper for Brazilian authors and US$500/paper for authors outside Brazil.
Although we are not requesting payment now it
is necessary that the corresponding author indicate the intention to pay
the page charge if not the paper will not be processed.
